STARKVILLE - Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom has announced that junior quarterback Josh Riddell has been reinstated.

The Oregon native, who spent the past two years at Foothill College in California, was suspended two weeks ago following his arrest on Aug. 19 for a DUI in Starkville after having a blood alcohol level of .14. Prior to his suspension, he was No. 2 on the depth chart behind Michael Henig.

“I’m still disappointed in Josh’s actions, but he’s conducted himself well in the interim,” Croom said Friday afternoon. “He did what was asked of him both on and off the field, and I put him back on the team. It’s a situation where he’ll have to work his way back up the depth chart.”

Riddell didn't play in Thursday's 45-0 loss to No. 2 LSU and serving in the backup role was true freshman Wesley Carroll.

The Fl. Lauderdale, Fla., product saw limited in action in the fourth quarter after Henig was pulled following his sixth interception.

The Bulldogs, who play at Tulane on Sept. 8, don't return to the practice fields until Monday.

Not that he'll have any more success, but do you think Croom was looking for him in the stands midway through the third quarter?

We were told off the record when the suspension was announced that it would be for one game. I'm sure he thought about reducing it to a half during the game, though.
